Our Story
Urdu Madrasa began with two moms, two countries and one shared vision
Azka lives in Toronto, Canada, where she was raising her daughter far from extended family and her Urdu-speaking roots. She searched everywhere for books that could make Urdu come alive for little ones—books with real photographs instead of cartoons, and with translations that made learning accessible. She knew that when children see real images of everyday things, like an apple they can hold in their hand or a cup they drink from, the connection to words is stronger. Real photos help kids recognize, remember, and build bridges between what they see around them and the language they hear.
Sameera, her sister-in-law, lives in Gujranwala, Pakistan. A teacher and mom of three, she had spent years helping children of different ages learn Urdu. She understood the challenges parents face at every level of fluency from beginners just learning their first letters to older kids strengthening their reading. She knew how powerful the right tools could be in shaping a child’s love for the language.
Together, Azka and Sameera combined their worlds, parenting and teaching, research and experience. After months of brainstorming, designing, and testing, they created a collection of books that families could truly rely on.
Each Urdu Madrasa book includes:
- Urdu script for authentic reading,
- Roman Urdu (transliteration) for easy pronunciation,
- English translations to support parents and children learning together,
- Plus a free audio companion so kids can listen, follow along, and parents can teach with confidence.
Our mission is simple: to help children connect with Urdu, to support parents in preserving their heritage, and to build a lasting bridge between English and Urdu through beautiful, dual-language resources.
